For an easy way to make beautiful masks, start with the plastic party masks that go over the child’s eyes and nose, which you should be able to find at your local dollar store (like the black one you can see in the upper left mask shown in the picture). Gather any and all craft materials that you have on hand. You need a glue gun for the heavier, awkward items like popsicle sticks, pompoms and feathers.
Always make sure that an adult supervises the glue gun. Ask the children to bring the item to you to place on the mask. Use white glue for glitter, sequins and googly eyes.
The children can use their imagination to make animals, super heroes, mystical creatures or just decorate however they choose. Use the decorated masks for dramatic play, dancing and movement activities as well. Have fun and go wild!!!
