In this article I don’t want to make a technical exposition of textile engineering, nor do I want to break down the production techniques of the base materials, because there is already a nourished set of pages talking about it; what I intend is to explain to you why we choose different fabrics and ring spun cotton for our garments.

You will see in the specifications that we use materials such as Polyester, Viscose or Elastane and if you investigate a little more you will perceive that these fabrics are used in certain proportion (up to 100% in some cases) in the outer garments, that is to say those that have a direct contact with the weather. Wind, cold or hot, as well as other weather conditions cause erosion in any type of material, synthetic fabrics are more resistant to this deterioration and we want you to enjoy your garment for a long time in the best conditions.

As I said before, I am not going to give you a masterclass on the process of cotton spinning. But it is important to know that this production model involves a series of industrial mechanisms superior to other types of spinning, such as the rotating spindle. In addition to the use of a specific tool, the process is temporarily lengthened because it requires a series of complementary processes such as the wicking and winding. Why is this important for you? Because the quality of the final product is better for you and for your skin; because this development creates a more resistant yarn and yet finer and softer. In other words: The feel for your body is more pleasant. It weighs less, so it has a better drape, so it fits you better. To conclude, it is more durable.

obtained from cotton yarn of heading 5205 and cotton fabric of heading 5210, is only a mixed product if the cotton fabric is itself a mixed fabric made from yarns classified in two separate headings or if the cotton yarns used are of the same type as the cotton fabric of heading 5210.

On this occasion I reflect on the space of the exhibition hall of the Centro de Arte Tomás y Valiente in Fuenlabrada. If we place ourselves on the first floor, as if it were a central courtyard, we can see the rest of the floors, also used for the same purpose, exhibition space, all of them supported by columns giving to the largest and noblest room of the building.

I would like to intervene this place with a chromatic game in the elements that hold the plants, the columns, making them so sensitive and fragile, as it will be the cotton threads hanging from the ceiling with a transformation of intensity and chromatic reflection, which apparently support the weight.

In this case, which I do not project artificial light, I intend to talk more about the shadows or the holes they produce than about the lights. As Tanizaki said in “the praise of shadows” I would like that in an atmosphere of seclusion and with a rather dim light, the eye gets used to that rhythm of colors that “hold” the floor of the room to intervene, to break the rigidity of the architecture with a changing and poetic metamorphosis of color. Columns of color, an exercise in rhythm in which we are introduced to the metaphorical dimension of time that invites us to stop and recover the pleasure of contemplation.

Too little twist gives a yarn whose fibers are drained due to traction defect. Too much twist produces a kinky and brittle yarn. A good yarn spun with perfection must be completely regular.

The trocil, or ring spinning, is in charge of giving the fibers more stretch and applying twist to them, obtaining as a final result the formation of the yarn. Ring spinning applies the twist by means of a rotating spindle. It is not only the slowest spinning method, it is also the most expensive, as it requires a number of additional steps such as tufting and winding.

The machine is made up of a feed motor that transmits the movement to the gear system to set cylinders and spindles in action, it is provided with a pneumatic suction system for wick or yarn when undergoing a rutura. It has an electrical system for starting, starting and stopping the machine.

The trocile production is measured in g/spindle or Kg of machine. Thicker yarns with less twist and more fibers fill the bobbins faster, while finer yarns with more yarn length take longer to make the draw or production.
