PEFC CERTIFICATE, Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification, is an international non-governmental, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting sustainable forest management through a system of certification by independent organizations.
Forest certification is an evaluation process to which a forest area or forest company voluntarily submits itself, carried out by an independent third party. The objective is to certify compliance with agreed forest management practices, in order to contribute to the preservation of forests and forest biodiversity.
Such certification can be done through the sustainability of forest management, Sustainable Forest Management Certification, or through the certification of products, Chain of Custody Certification.
Sustainable Forest Management certification covers aspects such as forest inventory, silviculture, harvesting and the economic, ecological and social consequences of forestry activities, among others.
Pefc and fsc differences
Recently, data on the increase in global temperatures of the planet were released, data that more than curious should lead us to reflect on the consumption of products that can increase the rapid deterioration of the environment, thereby promoting the increase of greenhouse gases and subsequent global warming. This is the motivation to introduce you to our PEFC and FSC bags, which are environmentally friendly products, thanks to their materials and manufacturing processes.
The consequences of global warming are now so evident that we can no longer look the other way. Reality shows us that we must take urgent measures to stop the galloping effects of pollution, and to do so it is essential to rethink our consumption habits.
Thanks to the growing concern about the impact that human-related processes were having on the planet, in particular the dramatic decline of forests, the organizations Forest Stewardship Council, or FSC, were created more than two decades ago: Forest Stewardship Council, or what is the same FSC, and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification, or better known as PEFC.
PEFC is the most widely implemented forest certification system in the world, with more than 300 million hectares certified in more than 30 countries. Its certification is a guarantee that wood, paper and board products come from forests where agreed sustainability standards have been respected. The best thing about using an organization such as PEFC to certify the sustainable origin of the products a company uses is precisely the fact that it is an organization external to the industries. Consumers recognize an external certification more than a declaration by the company.
FSC certification allows companies to indicate on their product labels that they support a responsible forest management model, which allows consumers to identify and choose these products. To ensure that there is no contamination and that their certified products are not mixed with non-certified products along the chain, FSC verifies at each stage that certified products are identified and separated from others.
