Floor insulation materials
Hi all. I have to raise a floor 25 cm, I am going to raise it with loose gravel/machaca without sand and then pour 10 cm of concrete on top of the gravel with a plastic in between to avoid humidity. My question is, I have seen that it is being done a lot to put XPS panels also on floors, but this involves having to put the XPS on top of the concrete and then place it and make cement screed with mesh, so it takes much more space (I would have no problem), but it is more material, more labor … and necessary?
And insulation in screed in living spaces, I think it is almost always necessary. You just have to do the calculations with the 2 variants and see how much the demand varies. It would be good to do that exercise.
